Real-World Background: Since the Great War, the machine gun has been employed on the battlefield with devastating effect. But, in current theaters of war, a traditional, full-caliber, tripod-mounted MG is simply too heavy (and bulky) to meet any challenge that arises. So, the military minds of today seek a GPMG, or general purpose machine gun. The PKM is perhaps one of the best examples of a GPMG, finding an enormous amount of proliferation throughout the former Soviet Union and other surrounding countries. It fires the full-caliber 7.62x54R round and can be mounted on a tank or otherwise, but the gun is versatile enough to be man portable. Rugged Kalashnikov engineering means the PKM will fire every time you pull the trigger, and with a gun such as this volume of fire is everything.

Notes for Usage: Take your heavy MG and make it a bit smaller: the PKM. Lower damage, lower accuracy, and medium rate of fire. The iron sights are very useful for the way this gun operates and will agree with the AK crowd. The clip, while very large, can catch you off guard. I know 100 rounds is a lot, but when your not thinking about reloading, you can run out before you know it. Like all the MGs in this game, this gun only gets deadlier as you fire on full auto, but this gun especially requires minimal bursting.

Optics: Most instances won't make an RDS necessary, but certain urban areas will prefer it. ACOG doesn't work too well with this gun, but if the map has rather long shooting lanes, it wouldn't hurt.

Prime Environment: Wide-Open (Example: Base 1 on Islas Innocentes)
