AKS-74U Krinkov
Real-World Background: The AK-74 entered the Russian military with its 5.45x39 round to fill the need for a small-caliber, high-velocity round, similar to the M16 with its 5.56x45 round. The 5.45 is characterized by a long, slim slug that has been nick-named the "poison" bullet for the damage it inflicts on a human target after penetration. The 5.45 has a longer effective range than the the 47's 7.62 round, and is ballistically more stable. As for the AK-74U, it doesn't actually capitalize on that range, but uses the light, fast round in a more compacted AK-74 design. The "U" stands for a word in Russian that means 'short", reflective of the shortened barrel and foldable stock the 74U incorporates. The gun may only have the same effective range as most other submachine guns, but it packs an AR punch, making it a perfect PDW.
Notes for Usage: Though you're talking good rate of fire, your also talk high accuracy with the AK-74U. Lower damage, medium accuracy, and medium rate of fire. The iron sights are great, agreeable with the AK crowd out there, and they're precise enough even at range. The clip will do well, only running out in the longer engagements. Full auto will work very effectively up to medium range, but even then longer bursts can be used past that.
Optics: Low Because the sights are black, low light situations would make an RDS the better sight, and the optic will work with fine with the gun. ACOG isn't exactly effective, though, and will jump around when fired with more than 3-round bursts.
Prime Environment: Jungle, Low Cover (Example: Base 1 on Valparaiso)
